WSU Homecoming 2015

This past weekend, Omid and I travelled to Pullman for Homecoming weekend! Earlier this summer, I won two football tickets to any WSU home football game via CougarCruiser on Twitter. We chose the game against the OSU Beavers. Our friends Lin & Ward were also going to the game, so we were lucky enough to stay with them in their RV.

Our original plans had us flying stand by, but ALL flights were full. Ward took the jump seat and Omid and I hit the road. It was a race to see who could get there first!

Pullman bound!
We beat Ward by 40 minutes! To his credit, he did have to stop and pick up the RV in Spokane and hit Costco for food & beverages. But still....we won.

Omid and I stopped by the Old PO for a beer while waiting for Ward. Omid picked up a Daily Evergreen (student newspaper) and I saw this ad for a 5K fun run. I am still feeling sad over the loss of our beloved President and really wanted to do the fun run. I texted Lin (who was still at home & would be joining us on Friday) and she was in! Both Omid and Ward tried to talk us out of doing it, saying it was too early, etc. but we were determined!!

Here's a shot we texted Lin on Friday morning. What a beautiful morning it was too! 70* or more at 10:00 a.m.!
Good morning from Pullman!!

Omid and I spent Friday running around town and campus. Afterwards, we stopped at the Palouse Ridge Golf Course for a beer and to admire the view.  While sitting here, an  Alaska Airlines 737 flew over on it's way to the Pullman airport! Not something you see too often in Pullman. Very cool!
Happy hour on the Palouse!

Lin finally made it to Pullman Friday evening. We had dinner, met up with Lia, Mark, Ron, Karen, Fred & Ping and just enjoyed our time together and being in Pullman.  Lin and I asked Karen to join us on the fun run and she was in too! We made a plan to meet outside the RVs at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. The guys still weren't sure we would be up, but we were determined!

We arrived at the Rec Center around 7:40 a.m., paid our entrance fee, picked up our shirts and looked around. There were about 50 people in all, and 45 of them students! Only 5 'adults' registered. I wish it had been advertised better. With SO many alumni in town, they would have made a lot more $$ for the new medical school.
The shirt says it all!

After the fun run, we headed back for breakfast. Around this time, Cougar Athletics sent ambassadors around to all the RV lots with Cougar swag. I really tried to get this flag from an ambassador, but she wouldn't budge. It was for photo ops only. I did score lots of tattoos, several pair of WSU sunglasses and a WSU keychain though!
GO COUGS!!!
During breakfast, Omid flagged down a student shuttle driver to come back and drive us all to the game.  We squeezed 8 of us in the van and headed to Martin Stadium.  We walked around for a bit, loving the sea of crimson everywhere!
View from our seats! Not bad for free tickets!
Athletics played this video during the game. I loved it!!! Definitely brought tears to my eyes. It felt so good to be HOME in Pullman!!!

If you didn't watch the game or aren't into football, the Cougs won 52-31 over the Beavs!

An Oregon sweep (with the win over the Ducks last week)!!!!

Very happy alum celebrating the win!!
We had such a great time in Pullman, it was hard to leave! I'm already looking forward to our next trip.

GO COUGS!!!!

Get Crafty!

It's homecoming time for the local high schools. Matty wanted a creative way to ask his friend Cassie, to their school's dance. I begged him to do something different from all the other kids at Camas High. Most kids seem to do some sort of  message with balloons or cupcakes. No cookie cutter ideas here! I found this darling scratch ticket craft from ArtMind (via Pinterest) several months ago & pitched it to Matty. Thankfully, he liked it.☺

 Here's how we did it:

First Matty printed several copies of his message & glued it on construction paper.   Next we covered the message with strapping/packaging tape. Then mixed together 2 parts acrylic paint + 1 part Dawn dishwashing liquid. I painted over the taped message & let it dry. These were our practice strips to make sure it worked.
We waited one hour before testing the paint. Success!
Final copy.

I got a little carried away with my sponge brush. The paint around the message
was way bigger than it should've been. Oh well.
My fix: add cute stickers...
....and glitter!

I loved this craft & was so happy it worked. Matty was pretty pleased as well. Stay tuned to see formal photos in the coming weeks.☺

Homecoming 2010

Last night was Camas' Homecoming dance. We had the usual drama before the dance: Last minute group changes, hair appointment emergencies, worries about Omid intimidating her date, etc. Thankfully, everything went off without a hitch and the night was a success! Nas & Remy.

Naseem went with her friend Caleb.

Here is Caleb's sister Miranda, trying to pin the boutinniere.
*Notice Remy in the background. I made him a peanut butter popsicle to distract him from our guests & to keep his 'talking' down to a minimum. It worked!

It finally 'took a man's touch' to get the boutinniere to behave.
Though I did have to repin it at the HS - only to have it fall off again!. The next dance, we will watch a YouTube tutorial beforehand: "How to Securely Pin a Boutinniere."

Here's how their formal Homecoming photos will look: CUTE!

Best friends!!

CHS Homecoming 2008

It's Homecoming weekend in Camas!

Last night, the Papermakers won their football game (64-14) and tonight is the dance. Omid's mom and I took Naseem to her friend Leah's house at 6:00 p.m.

The kids plan to eat dinner at Leah's and then head over to the school for the dance. Nas' group included Leah, Eden, Jessica and Jason. Jason had a date, but she decided to go with someone else. What a loss for her...he is the nicest boy. Jason and Nas have been friends since the 6th grade and in all this time I have NEVER seen his face without a smile. He is such a positive kid.

Jackson (he is 107 lbs. and jumped on Omid's mom TWICE!!).
