Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts
Oh my gosh, these are tasty!!
I found this recipe on Pinterest via the Riches to Rags with Dori blog. They are so easy to make and super delicious.
Just four ingredients:
bacon
water chestnuts
chili sauce
brown sugar
I made a small batch as I wasn't sure if Omid or the kids would like these. I should have made a triple batch. They LOVED them!
Soak a bunch of toothpicks in water. Drain one can of water chestnuts. Mix one bottle Heinz Chili Sauce with 1 cup brown sugar. Take half a slice of bacon & wrap it around two water chestnuts. Secure with a toothpick. NOTE:I actually used about 6 slices of bacon that was leftover from breakfast. It was pliable enough & not too soft. Dori recommends precooking the bacon a little bit to minimize grease. Spoon a teaspoon or more (I used more!) of the chili sauce mix onto the bacon. Bake at 375* for 20 minutes. Serve & enjoy! NOTE: I added extra sauce at the halfway mark.
