Visit with Denise & a drunk guy

Our friend Denise came back for a visit this weekend. She and her family moved to North Carolina back in August and we have been missing her a lot! The moms headed out to Cactus Ya Ya while the kids had other plans.

Lin & Wendy

Tammie & Denise

All of us and an ANNOYING drunk guy who wouldn't leave us alone.

This guy was WEIRD. While we were waiting for our table, he came up to Denise & Tammie and was flirting like crazy. They tried to ignore him but he was really persistent. After he failed to get the girls to flirt in return, he tried hitting on Lin. Our table was finally called and we were laughing at him. We were laughing too soon, as he and his friends were seated at the table behind us. Too bad for us.

I took some photos of our table and he offered to take one of us. I hesitated as I didn't want him to #1 - drop my new camera, #2 - break my new camera or #3 - puke on my new camera. The waitress was nowhere in sight, so I said okay. Bad move. He immediately started playing with the zoom and that just pissed me off. I leaned right over and said, "Give me back my camera!" in the meanest/nastiest tone I could muster. Then he started to talk to our table again about 'what makes ladies like us happy.' We all just ignored him and I grabbed the waitress and asked her to take our picture. That creepy guy got in our picture and we were not pleased. Then Lin said, "Woo hoo Erin! I didn't know you had it in you to talk like that to people."

The minute I walked in the door, I took a Clorox wipe and disinfected my camera from that guys' germs. Other than putting up with that guy, we had a great time!

Close, but no cigar.

Just a few minutes ago, I thought for sure I had won something akin to the lottery.

I left a comment on The Pioneer Woman's blog last night (hoping to win a prize - $500 at the Apple store). I just went on her blog and saw that Erin (#4786) was one of 3 winners. My heart skipped a beat. I was hoping it was me....I had Naseem help me check. Holding my breath....Naseem found out that I had left comment number 4856.

Darn it!

Twitter

In my quest to always keep up with the latest & greatest in technology - (haha!) - I joined Twitter today. Look for me under: goremygo.

According to others around me...Facebook is "so yesterday." I don't believe that though - there are so many people on there all the time. Thank God I can't access FB at work. :)

Gisela

Here is an article about Gisela's appearance on The Price is Right tomorrow.

Netflix This!

This is a darling movie!
The kids and I laughed our way through it. This movie has it's share of swear words...though they are bleeped out with either the sound of a basketball or ping pong ball bouncing - very clever.
It's funny & terribly quirky and I will probably watch it tomorrow night too.

The Price is Right! *Update*

This Thursday, February 26th - you can watch Gisela win big on The Price is Right. I will miss it - but have checked out the website and will be able to watch it online later. Exciting stuff!

By the way...Gisela decided to pay the hefty game show taxes and will receive her loot sometime in May.

Superstar!

My sisters and I grew up listening to John Denver, ABBA, Seals & Crofts and The Carpenters. I loved Karen Carpenter. I thought she was so cool. My two favorite songs were Calling Occupants and Superstar. I still love Superstar.
The kids have several iTunes cards lying around and this morning I decided to purchase Superstar for myself. While looking for the song on iTunes this morning, I found Sonic Youth's version of Superstar. It's cool and kind of creepy at the same time...AND I really like it! Check it out for yourself here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRiyN_Zn5L8

charitywater.org

Anybody need their dog walked, poop picked up from their yard, or yard work done (for FREE)? Matty needs to do a service project for school...and we are looking at ideas.

He was thinking about the humane society...but he's not old enough. Apparently all he can do is shred newspapers for the kennels (& I have to be there too). Boring!! We are also looking at Share House, Lost & Found Cafe, & nursing homes.

I am stuck in this idea rut. If you have any better ideas - throw 'em at us!

Netflix This!

The Rocker...too funny and too cute. If you love 80's music (or Dwight from The Office), then this movie is for you!

The kids and I watched this movie last night. It was definitely one we will watch again and again (just like Napolean Dynamite).

Road Trip to Oly

The kids, Remy and I took a road trip to Oly to see my parents, sisters and cousins for the long weekend as we haven't seen them since Christmas.

We rolled into town, left Remy at home with Papa, picked up Grammy, B and Cayden and went to lunch at Ramblin' Jacks. I think I am getting tired of that place, it's not as good as it used to be. I really wanted to eat at Eagan's, but was voted down. Too bad. They have the best fries and goop. Next time!

We were full from lunch and then went to watch Sammee's final basketball game. Her team won! Yay Sam!
Sammee with the ball!
My dad made ribs for dinner & they were tasty. After dinner, we played a 'spirited' game of Apples to Apples. I usually rock at this game, but I lost (I couldn't believe it!). Matty won instead.

On Sunday, B and I walked downtown in the rain and visited lots of shops. Then we ended up at the mall, meeting up with the kids, Grammy and my sister Cynthia. We were all starving and ate lunch at Pints & Quarts (it was just okay). After that, we came back home and hung out at the house.

Poor Remy - this is when things got bad for him. First, he fell off the computer chair and his leg got caught, then he jumped off my parents couch and his two front legs buckled underneath him and he landed right on his snout. He got up and was completely dazed. He just sat there very scared and confused. About half an hour after that, he fell again! I made him stay off the couch after that. Poor boy! It just wasn't his night.

This picture was supposed to capture how tall Matty is compared to Cynce. Instead, all I see is how my parents need to put a picture or something on that bare wall in the kitchen. Get to it!

Today I worked downtown at the Special Services building. This building also hosts the alternative high school. Today the HS kids were having a bake sale. I didn't purchase any of the baked items. I was worried about the cleanliness of the kitchens the items were baked in (I'm weird about that). But I did purchase several candy necklaces for Nas and her friends and three of these popcorn lollipops. They were 3 for 25 cents. I was told they taste like a popcorn Jelly Belly. Totally bloggable.

Looks like a tiny popcorn ball.

Nas thought it tasted gross. I took a lick and thought it tasted like sweet buttered popcorn. A few licks were okay, but that was it for me.

Remy LOVED it!

Happy Birthday Omid!

Happy Birthday 40th Birthday Omidjoon!
