Happy Thanksgiving!

I love Thanksgiving!

 

I especially love how it's the kickoff to the Christmas holiday season. Omid & I were at Costco (twice!) yesterday and once the day before. We ran into old friends, new friends & coworkers. Everyone had a smile on their face & we all exchanged Thanksgiving well wishes with promises to get together soon. I love that.☺

 

 

Matty & I watched the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving special last night. A pre-Thanksgiving tradition we enjoy.

 I love how Snoopy cooks the entire meal of toast, popcorn, pretzel sticks & jelly beans.

One year I will have to serve that too. Just for fun.☺

 

Here is what Omid is cooking for our Thanksgiving dinner: Two turkeys (one in a cherry juice brine, the other traditional with olive oil, butter & herb rub; one ham, cranberry rice (the Persian element in our dinner).

 

I am in charge of mashed potatoes, roasted carrots/asparagus, mealy pudding (Scotch dressing). We usually stuff the turkey with the dressing, but since the turkeys will be smoking in the Traeger, I will have to put the dressing in a loaf pan & bake it. It still tastes good. It is however, NOT Thanksgiving without Scotch dressing. I load my plate with the dressing, cranberry rice & cranberry sauce. That is my own Thanksgiving tradition. Those are the best parts of the dinner for me. Everything else I will take a little taste of. 

 

Dessert will be two of B's famous apple pies + a pumpkin pie from Costco (thanks mom/dad!).

Apple Cup Update!

Even though the Cougs lost the Apple Cup last night (21-38), we had a great time with our friends Lin & Ward.
Fun fact: Matty & I battled for the wishbone from our turkey. My wish: that WSU win the Apple Cup. Matty's wish: he didn't have one. Guess what? I won the wishbone! Last time I take stock in a wish bone. >:(

 This score was the high point of the game: tied!! Shortly after this photo, we fell far behind & lost. While I know many "classy Huskies", I have to say we encountered many rude Husky fans. The Cougs showed class all the way! Go Cougs!!!

Apple Cup!!!!

Omid & I are headed up to Seattle to attend the 104th Apple Cup today! Woo hoo!
The last Apple Cup I attended was in Pullman many years ago. It was 13* and snowing very hard. I made the mistake of wearing a pea coat, dress socks & penny loafers. I was cold & miserable, but oh so stylish! Today's forecast calls for rain. I will be dressed for the weather & as I don't care that much about fashion anymore. ☺

I love the I Am Baker website! Great tutorials for cookies. I made these Camas Papermaker cookies after trying unsuccessfully to make my own Camas cookie cutter. I Am Baker had a link to the University of Cookie website where I learned the secret: photo paper! Great season Papermakers!

I also tried to make a WSU cookie. It's such a hard logo to make cookies out of! So...I settled for the next best thing...I made UW cookies for my friends at work.

You know, to wish them 'Good Luck' and all on Saturday. ;)

I found out some disturbing information today from my friend Scott who is a die-hard Husky (boo!). Apparently, the UW & WSU have worked out a 'deal' to permanently move the Apple Cup to Qwest Field in Seattle. Why don't the fans get a vote?!
