Get Crafty!

I saw this darling paper bag Easter basket on Pinterest the other day. I decided I had to try & make it.
From Ellinee.com
How hard could it be?! Oh my gosh. I am so impatient & truly ADD, that I had to have Matty take over. Cutting the paper strips was no problem at all. Folding them: simple. Weaving them? Arrgghhh! Matty had to finish this craft for me. It took over two hours, so if you start - make sure you have a free afternoon.
Beautiful weave. Thank you Matty!

Perfect handle. Again, thank you Matty!

Almost done.

We only did two rows for the sides, as Matty was starting to get tired of doing 'my' project.
When I say 'we' - I mean Matty.☺

Finished!
Thank you Matty for crafting this darling basket! If you want to try...go to this site for the complete tutorial.
Matty isn't only craftastic, he is a runner/sprinter too!
Thanks Mattyboo! Love you lots!

Easter Surprise Eggs!
I found this craft last year right before Easter from Not Martha. I started saving egg shells a few weeks ago so I could make them this year. They are SO cute!
Tap the ends out of eggs & empty the shells. Sterilize the shells in boiling water + a bit of vinegar for 10 mins. Let dry. I did this step in stages. Every time I baked or used eggs in any way, I made sure to save the shells. When I had a bunch, I sterilized them.

For the first time ever, I used regular food coloring instead of PAAS brand dye. It worked better than I thought. I dyed some brown eggs for the first time ever as well. The saffron colored eggs are the brown ones. They came out really beautiful after sitting in the red dye.

Now the fun part: fill the eggs! I added little chenille chicks along with the candy. Cost Plus has lots of different sizes & colors.
Oops! Head first.
Much better.☺
Along with the chicks, I added a Rolo candy, a Hershey's Kiss & 2 Whopper bird eggs.

Next you need to seal the open ends. You can use mini cupcake liners for this & trim them if they are too big.
I found these teeny tiny liners at IKEA.

Place glue around the liner, insert a 'crack me' message & glue the liner to the open end of the egg.

Place in cute bags & share!

Happy Easter!!
Be advised! The empty shells are extremely fragile. I lost three eggs during the coloring process!
These chickies are headed over to Pullman in an Easter care package for my daughter.☺

Get Crafty!!

I found these adorable mini wooden clothespins at Walmart yesterday for $1.88. I thought they were so cute. I bought two packages and came straight home to make an Easter garland for over the fireplace mantel.

I didn't have an Easter egg cookie cutter, so I made a template out of cardboard & traced shapes on scrapbook paper.

The other package of clothespins I got for Nas' room. I think it would be cute to make a garland with random photographs & some postcards. For a $1.88 - this was a deal I could not pass up.

Easter Crafts

**These sweet Easter images are from Vintage Holiday Crafts & are free!!

Easter seemed to sneak up on me this year. I wish Easter were a set holiday like Christmas. Am I the only one who finds it frustrating that it switches between March & April each year? That being said, I found some absolutely adorable Easter egg crafts this morning. I wish I had found these two links a few weeks ago. I would have loved to make them. Great ideas I will file away for (hopefully) next year! Both ideas are from Not Martha. If you haven't checked out her blog before, do. She always has interesting posts.
I hope you all have a wonderful Easter! He is risen!!
