Last night we celebrated Matty's 13th bday. I asked him what he wanted for dinner. He asked me to make spaghetti. Usually we go out to dinner to celebrate a birthday, but Matty said he wanted me to cook instead. Omid asked him if he wouldn't rather go to The Old Spaghetti Factory. Matty said no, "Mom's sauce is better." Good boy! Then Omid asked him if he would rather have me make the sauce or Omid make the sauce. Matty again said, "Mom!" What a loyal boy!
Birthday Dinner! Look at the kids' faces...they can't wait to dig into my spaghetti. :)
I made this bread to go along with the spaghetti. It is delicious (& really impressive looking). I have another one right now in the oven for breakfast (but I rolled it in cinnamon/sugar instead). It's so easy and beautiful - try it!
Matty requested an apple crisp with homemade vanilla ice cream for his dessert, instead of cake. Nas made the apple crisp and it was really good.

This pix is actually from the other night. I took it to show how addicted Remy is to ice cream. He loves it - particularly the homemade kind. I moved the ice cream maker out of the kitchen (it was too loud for some people who were watching the news). Remy lay down next to the machine and just started whining (he knows what the red machine is for). Matty sat down to guard him, because we were afraid Remy would tip over the machine trying to get a bite of ice cream. After 20 minutes, Remy received a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream in his bowl.
